We respect your privacy. Here we describe what data we collect and how we use it.

Data we collect

• Account data: email, username, date of birth, gender and location at county level.
• Profile content: intro, photos and preferences that you add yourself.
• Activity: messages, likes, profile visits and last activity time.
• Technical data: IP address (to limit login attempts) and session cookie.

Data protection

• Your email address is not shown to other users.
• Passwords are stored in cryptographically hashed form.
• EXIF data, including GPS location, is removed from photos on upload.
• Private photos can only be seen by users you have a mutual like with.

End-to-end encrypted messages

• Messages and photos sent in chat are encrypted on your device before sending. On the server they are unreadable – not even the site's staff can read them.
• Your encryption key is stored on the server only locked with your password and is opened in your browser. If you forget your password, earlier messages cannot be recovered.
• Photos can only be sent in a chat if both parties have agreed. Photos are downscaled and their location data removed before encryption.
• When reporting a message, you decide how much of the conversation to share with moderators. Only the selected messages are shared; the rest of the conversation stays encrypted.
• Messages and photos are deleted from the server automatically after 14 days. In the chat settings you can choose a shorter time (3–14 days); the change applies to both and is shown in the chat. Messages shared with moderators in a report are kept for processing.
• The server can still see who talks to whom and when (metadata) – this is used for spam protection and limits.

Your rights

You can change your data at any time and permanently delete your account with all its data on the Account page. If you have questions, write to info@meeldid.ee.
